Linux is an operating system that was created in 1991 by Linus Torvalds. It is open source software that is free to anyone who wants to use it and knows how to configure it. It works on many different types of hardware including PC hardware that normally runs Windows.
It is faster, securer, and more stable than both Windows and a Mac. Many computer users have begun to use it due for the reasons listed above. Many computer users are tired of the spyware and viruses that are attacking the Microsoft operating systems. They love the fact that they can load this operating system on the same hardware that they are running Windows. They also love the fact that many of the same means of maneuvering on Windows is the same as Linux. This has saved them many hours of training. It takes a few weeks to be used to a Mac when switching over from a Windows system. We have loaded hundreds of PCs with Linux and Windows. This is called a dual boot. Many of our customers like this option because it is like having a car with two motors. When one has problems, you can always boot into the other operating system and still access your data. Here is a list of strengths of Linux…
- Secure
- Stable
- Fast
- Access Windows Data
- No Windows Malware
- Free to Purchase
- Faster Releases of Software
- Connects to Windows Networks and Servers
- Plug and Play for HP printers and many others
- Abundance of Free Software
- Faster boot up and shut down times
As you can see we love Linux. We have installed it in over 300 computers all across the Wasatch.
